It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Cicely Nicholas.

Cicely played for the ladies teams during her time at East End and has for many years been unwell.

On behalf of the league, our sincere condolences go to Cicely's family.

Today saw the last competition of our season, the League Team Knockout. The semis and the final were played at Mythop BC and a massive thank you to them for hosting the day and providing us with measurers and wonderful refreshments. Also thanks to our two referees today Chris and John who kept everyone in order.

The winners of the competition were Lowther Gardens 'A' team who overcame their fellow club members Lowther Gardens 'B' in the final. Many congratulations to both teams on reaching the final by knocking out Freckleton 'B' and Marine Park 'A' in the semis. Thanks to all the players, markers and supporters for making it a fun day. The results can be seen under Club Matches in the menu.

What a great weekend we had, it stayed mostly dry and some fantastic bowls with closely fought semis and final.

The shield was won by Lowther Gardens '1' who beat Marine Park '1' by just 8 points.

A massive thank you to Lowther Gardens BC for their hospitality and to all the markers, measurers and our referee Stuart. Thanks also to everyone who gives up their time to play and support the teams.

LOWTHER GARDENS 'A' captained by Christine Stringfellow have triumphed in the 1st Division.

MARINE PARK 'A' led by Jane Taylor have won the 2nd Division and are promoted to Division 1.

Well done everyone in making this a competitive and friendly league.

Another fun finals day for the Quicksave Motorist Centre Ladies Doubles. The winners were Kath Lee of Lowther Gardens and Marjorie Lord from Hope Street, who beat Pat Denny of East End and Debbie Whiteside from Hope Street in the final. The results of the Terry Blakeley Memorial Trophy are now available. The winners were Fliss Dombrowski and Jim Horsfield from Freckleton who beat Mary Harrison and Les Brown in a close run final. Thank you to everyone who took part, marked, measured, supported and helped with everything and special thanks to East End BC for hosting this weekend. We all send our love and best wishes to Peter Blakeley, our generous sponsor, who sadly couldn;t be with us this weekend following a fall. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Due to the extreme weather forecast for tomorrow evening and to keep everyone safe it has been decided to postpone all 4 matches planned for Thursday evening. These fixtures have been rescheduled for Thursday 27 August. A message has been sent to the captains involved and the league reps but if you know anyone affected please pass the message on. A great finals day for the Mayoress' Trophy with no rain.

The winner was Kath Lee from Lowther Gardens and runner-up was Christine Toft from Hope Street after a very closely run 21-19 game. Well done to both ladies for a great final.

Ladies, the season is about to start and one match was played early due to a clash of greens with the men's league. The result was Freckleton B 8 v Lytham 2. On the advice of the NLFCBA, this result will not appear on online bowls until its scheduled July date in order that the numbers of games played remain level for the purposes of tables and league merits etc.

The rest of us start next week and here's hoping for dry nights and some enjoyable and friendly matches. Have fun everyone!
