It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Trevor Tomlinson passed away on Friday 24th July.

Trevor was a long-standing and respected member of Barton Bowling Club, serving as President and playing for many teams. He was well-liked and will be missed greatly.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.

For anyone wishing to attend, the funeral will be held on 14th August at 11.30 am at St Lawrence’s Church, Barton.

It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of John Reid. John was the captain of Galgate A and was an avid supporter of the Over Wyre Veterans Bowling League. John was well respected throughout the Bowling community as a whole.

For anyone wishing to attend, the funeral will be held on 6th August at 9am at Lancaster Crematorium with a wake afterwards at Lune Road.

The 2026 OWVBL Presentation Lunch is to be held on Monday, 19th October - 12 for 12.30pm. Following the favourable comments received, last year, the Cross Keys Inn at Whitechapel has again been booked for this event and the lunch menu is above.

Captains are now asked to ascertain, from their Team members, the number of people wishing to attend this event and the menu choices of those people. The charge for attendance, including the three course meal, is £27 per person.

Once attendance numbers are ascertained Captains are then asked to provide the Treasurer (Bryan Cookson) with the following information:

1. The name of each person attending and the menu choice of each person eg Bryan Cookson Melon, Salmon and Ice Cream only and

2. The correct payment for the number of people wishing to attend.

It is recognised that the date of the Presentation Lunch is some time away, however, it is expected that demand for places will be high. Ticket numbers are restricted to 120 and will be reserved on a first paid basis. It is also recognised that circumstances may change and where necessary menu choices will require changing or refunds be given. Such changes can be made up to and including the 8th October 2026 and any cancellations will then be offered to people who have requested to be placed on a waiting list. Menus cannot be changed or refunds given after 8 October, 2026.
