PRESIDENT`S DAY AT BROUGHTON.
The President`s Day Competition at Broughton Bowling and Social Club on Sunday July 21st was won by Chris Dransfield (Owd Nells Tavern F.T.) who beat David West (Thurlby) 21-13. In the semi-finals, Chris beat Mike Knowles (Woodplumpton B) 21-15, and David beat Roger Livesey (Roebuck) 21-19. The Day was well attended in Mel`s honour and his family very generously provided a large hamper of goodies for the worthy winner.

Mel Johnson.
It is with deepest regret that we announce the sudden passing of our President, Mel Johnson of Broughton on Thursday last. The League Committee and all members offer their condolences to Mel`s family and friends.

ACCESS TO WHITTINGHAM BOWLING CLUB.
As part of the ongoing development around the Whittingham estate, the access has changed slightly. The `usual` road known as Stags Lane, next to the Stags Head pub, will be closed to vehicles from today and, until further notice, access for cars etc will be via Henry Littler Way, the next road along if you`re coming from Broughton.

DEEPDALE RAMBLERS (DIVISION 2).
From May 27th, Deepdale Ramblers have moved to Frenchwood Social Club. This is due to the green at Deepdale Labour no longer being cut. Thus fixtures will have to be changed to alleviate any clashes. The affected fixtures will be changed accordingly on the website. Captains of Deepdale Ramblers, Empire Salwick, Frenchwood and St. Michaels will be contacted by the Hon. Fixtures Secretary, Carl Fazackerley, in the next few days. All other teams are NOT affected in any way and their fixtures stand as they are.

DOUBLES DAY AT OWD NELLS.
The Doubles Day Competition at Owd Nells Tavern on Sunday May 19th was won by Colin Coxall and Paul Howarth (Inskip A) who beat David Ormerwood and Peter Worden (Parkfield Labour) 21-12. In the semi-finals, Colin and Paul beat Andy Howard and Andy Tiffin (Owd Nells Tavern F.T.) 21-17 and David and Peter beat Gary Daw and Alan Catterall (Empire Salwick) 21-18.

Start Times.
The Start Times for the matches on April 29th have all been changed to start at 19:15. This is the first week after the initial 4 weeks when matches start early as in previous seasons. Lee Kitchen has put the incorrect times in this season causing a great deal of confusion. All matches from April 29th to July 29th start at 19:15 irrespective of the home team having floodlights. Matches on greens without floodlights on August 5th start from 19:00 and on August 12th start from 18:45. All other matches (with floodlights) start at 19:15.

There are Cup Matches played on April 8th that are played on greens WITHOUT floodlights. Please note that they should start at 6:30pm as stated on the Cup Draw web page.

Empire Services.
Empire Services have decided to withdraw from the League, leaving a bye in Division 1. Members of the Committee were consulted and it was a general consensus that the bye should be in Division 6. Therefore, Singleton, Broughton A, Acregate Labour B and Galgate B were promoted back to their original Division. Also, Out Rawcliffe Outlaws have been promoted to Division 5.
