Carol Leonard - Hurst Green A.
It is with great sadness to report that Carol Leonard who played at Hurst Green for several years has recently and suddenly passed away. She was the acting Captain for the A team and was well known around the area. There is no doubt that Carol will be greatly missed by family and friends. Details of her funeral are not, as yet, known and will be announced later. The League Committee sends sincere condolences to her family at this very sad time. Paul Garstang has told the Hon. Fixtures Secretary that Adam Hayhurst will take over the captaincy for the rest of this season. Details to follow.

PRESIDENT`S DAY AY ST. MICHAELS.
The League`s President`s Day Competition was won by Alex Dawson (Brickhouse A) who beat Matt Brown (Frenchwood Ramblers) 21-10. In the semi-finals, Alex beat David Lawler (Out Rawcliffe) 21-5 and Matt beat Dave Salisbury (Moor Park B) 21-7.

Please check your bowls .... There has been a mix-up during this year. Someone who normally plays with Henselite 2.6 are now playing with 1 Henselite and 1 Drakes Pride 2.4 with the number 5611 stamped on it. Whoever has these odd woods played against Dot Stackhouse from Whitechapel during this current season. Please contact Dot on 07528 269 358. The owner of the Drakes Pride plays for Whittingham in the Woodplumpton Vets and Preston District Ladies Leagues, and Whitechapel in the Longridge Vets, Longridge League and Over Wyre Ladies League. DOUBLES DAY COMPETITION AT ELSWICK BOWLING CLUB.
The Doubles Day Competition at Elswick Bowling Club on Sunday May 18th was won by Gary Daw and John R Coupe (Woodplumpton B) who beat Alan Davies and Dave Watters (Parkfield Labour) 21-9. In the semi-finals, Gary and John beat Daniel Greenhow and Ken Holmes (Crown) 21-8 and Alan and Dave beat Ian Anderton and Neil Wakeford (Fulwood Bowling B) 21-9. The Committee and other members of Elswick did a fantastic job of providing food, refreshments and equipment on the day at such short notice after Owd Nells Tavern;s green was deemed unplayable. The League Committee gratefully thank Elswick Bowling Club for a great day and the use of their facilities.
